Steve Mayone Steve Mayone has been a singer/songwriter for over 30 years now. His songs and instrumentals have appeared in numerous movies and television shows, including LastStop for Paul, First Time Long Time, Still Green and Dark Rising 2. Steve is also busy as a multi-instrumentalist, performing with Kate Taylor, Levon Helm, Treat Her Right, Bow Thayer and Kris Delmhorst. Americana UK called Mayone “a master songsmith,” while Miles of Music says “Mayone ties up all of Americana, folk, classic and roots-rock, effortlessly flowing from one to the next and never at a loss for interest.” In June of this year Steve was featured on NPR in Hear & Now’s Musical Disasters That Entertain, a show hosted by author Steve Almond. Steve has released 4 CD’s and is presently working on his 5th, to be released on the Cambridge based, legendary record label Hi-n-Dry. Steve is excited to be performing tonight with the talented band The Blue Ribbons, featuring James Rohr on keyboards, Jed Charland on Upright Bass, Mike Castellana on guitar and Tauras Biskis on drums.
Reviews “What [Steve Mayone] has achieved on Bedroom Rockstar is to 'bottle' the sense of freedom enjoyed by a singer/songwriter faced with a blank sheet of paper and his own imagination...Mayone is a master songsmith. He crafts and molds his stories eloquently and intelligently and there's not many that you can say that about." - Americana UK
“[Mayone] switches easily from rootsy Americana to well crafted power pop [and] he proves himself equally adept at country ballads based on banjo and fiddle. Whatever style he plays in, Mayone has a knack for a good tune.” - Shindig
“A virtuoso in musicianship, Steve Mayone writes compelling singer/songwriter classics. A great follow-up to his breathtaking “Bedroom Rockstar”, “Unfortunate Son” is another notch on a belt of talented pop-rock ventures with slight Americana bends and juicy roots rock. Good stuff.”-Smother
“[Understories] is the full folk arsenal: obligatory mandolin, righteous indignation, political anger, biblical imagery and an unshakeable belief in the transformative power of love. He still knows a good tune and when he uses one the songs are transformed; beneath the mellow is the mellifluous.”- David Cowling, Americana UK
“Steve Mayone's skill as a songwriter… shines through the brightest. Lovingly and skillfully assembled, [Long Play Record] easily transcends mere pastiche… an impressive collection of songs designed to be listened to as a single entity and I can guarantee it will bring pleasure aplenty to anyone who likes their Americana laced with a pop edge.” - Tim Peacock, Whisperin’ and Hollerin’ (UK)
