Mothers' Day Concert and Brunch

Join us on Sunday, May 9th, 2004 at 11:00 a.m. for our second annual Mothers' Day celebration. It's a perfect event for the whole family. The morning begins with a concert for all ages followed by a scrumptious brunch outside (weather permitting!) On the program are Milhaud's Suite for clarinet, violin, and piano - a wonderful springy, jazzy piece, and Saint-Saens' Carnival of the Animals.

The concert features faculty members: Pamela Ambrose, Chester Brezniak, Shu-Fang Du, Jesse Flack, Jackie Ostergren, Ellie Perrone, Jennifer Schiller, and Esther Ning Yau, plus guests!

NSM celebrated Mother's Day this year with a special family concert and brunch.

First, Jim Braude (narrator) of 96.9 and NECN TV and Esther Yau (piano) performed The Story of Babar (1945) by Francis Poulenc.

The next piece was Carnival of the Animals (1886) by Camille Saint-Saens. The large ensemble consisted of NSM faculty and special guests. Performers were:

The piece had fourteen movements which correspond with an animal.	This piece was not published in Saint-Saens' lifetime - he probably would have loved the NSM performance!

After the concert, the festivities moved outside. What a glorious day! There was a balloon raffle, food, and various other raffles. We're lucky the weather was so nice.

People of all ages shared in the gorgeous day.	Hi-Rise Bakery donated the yummy food.
Other raffle items included a bottle of wine, NSM t-shirts and other gift items.	This might just have to become an annual NSM tradition!
