Gift Certificates Private Lessons, Musikgarten Classes and Group Instruments
New School of Music gift certificates are perfect for any occasion for children and adults alike. Gift certificate will be mailed to your billing address within 24 hours of receipt of payment. If you would like the gift to be sent to a different address, please email info@newschoolofmusic.org or call the NSM office at (617) 492-8105.
• Private lessons gift certificates are available on any instrument or voice we offer. Lesson schedule and time can be worked out individually with the recipient. Ideally the lesson(s) would take place weekly, however we can accommodate bi-weekly lessons too. The recipient is welcome to use the private lesson(s) gift on a single instrument or they can use this opportunity to try a number of different instruments. Please see below for all private lesson packages.
• Musikgarten gift certificates can be purchased for any Musikgarten class we offer; class session runs 11 weeks. When the recipient redeems the gift certificate they can enroll in the specific class day and time they choose provided there is an opening in the class; should you like to designate the gift certificate for a specific class day and time, we would be happy to enroll them in the class accordingly. Class descriptions are listed below.
• Group instrument gift certificates are available for our piano, violin and guitar children's classes; terms run for 11 weeks. When the recipient redeems the gift certificate they can enroll in the specific class day and time they choose provided there is an opening in the class; should you like to designate the gift certificate for a specific class day and time, we would be happy to enroll them in the class accordingly. Family Music, ages newborn - three years old Tuesday OR Thursday mornings at 10am 11 week class session, next class session to begin the week of January 2, 2011
Family Music Description: Designed for parents and their babies/toddlers to take together, these weekly classes help you learn how to play musically with your children. Together you’ll sing, chant, move, dance, listen, and play simple instruments, all activities that bridge the natural connection between music and movement . When you go home, you can continue the fun with a superb CD recorded by a fine children’s choir and outstanding instrumentalists. The parent guidebook along with the Musikgarten CD and an instrument or colorful scarf, will give you both hours of musical enjoyment at home. Child attends class with caregiver; weekly classes are 45 minutes with Musikgarten teacher, Nancy Kidd.
Cycle of Seasons, ages three - five years old. Tuesdays at 3:30pm 11 week class session, next class session to begin the week of January 2, 2011
Cycle of Seasons Description: Celebrate your preschooler’s growing independence and love of the outdoors with activities involving the four seasons in The Cycle of Seasons. Developed to build attention and self-expression, activities include singing, chanting, moving, focused listening, musical games, exploring musical instruments, creative movement and storytelling. The Cycle of Seasons nurtures your growing child’s ability to use language and participate in dramatic play within a musical context. Fun family packets including wonderful music CDs are included for use at home to increase family involvement in the learning process. Child attends class with caregiver; weekly classes are 45 minutes; with Musikgarten teacher, Liz Simmons.
Music Makers, ages five - seven years old. Thursdays at 3:30pm; returning students only Thursdays at 4:30pm; new students 11 week class session, next class session to begin the week of January 2, 2011
Music Makers Description:At age 5-7, you child is ready for the Music Makers learning program that includes singing, creative as well as structured movement, playing instruments and ensemble work, ear training and guided listening. This developmentally sound approach to music literacy builds symbolic thinking, concentration, memory, and self expression; children also start to work with written musical patterns too.This class is a drop-off class; weekly classes are 45 minutes; with Musikgarten teacher, Hannah Johnston.

Children's Group Instrument Classes Gift Certificates:
Group Piano Class Ages 4-6 years old Saturdays, 2:00-2:45pm Starts January 7, 2011 Fee: $245; 11 classes
Beginning piano classes are a wonderful way for young children to learn piano in a group setting. Our classes introduce a solid foundation of keyboard skills, including note-reading, ear-training, ensemble playing, efficient practicing, and healthy and natural hand and body positioning for a lifetime of piano enjoyment. Children learn in a small group setting, maximum of 5 students per section. This class is designed for students with no previous experience. Group Violin & Viola Class Ages 4-8 years old Saturdays, 10:15-11:00am Starts January 7, 2011 Fee: $245; 11 classes
Here is an opportunity to explore the world of violin and viola in a welcoming and supportive group setting. Beginner students will learn the basics of technique, music reading and simple tunes in this creative group class environment through musical games, movement and ensemble playing. Weekly 45 minute classes with violin/viola instructor, Loren Pearson.
Group Guitar Class Ages 10-14 years old Tuesdays, 5:30-6:15pm Starts January 3, 2011 Fee: $245; 11 classes
Group Guitar class is great for beginners ages 10-14. Learn everything you need to know to start playing guitar, including how to hold your guitar and pick, how to strum notes and read basic music. Follow that up with a few fun songs, and you'll be singing along with family and friends in no time. This class is ideal for both acoustic and electric guitar players.
