Adults
come to NSM for many reasons. Some are
complete beginners. Many
are returning to music after many years.
And some are professionals
seeking specialized training with our highly regarded faculty.
NSM's group classes and ensembles are an opportunity
for musical challenge and offer a fun, low-key atmosphere to meet people
who have similar interests and
passions. Our successful Adult String Ensemble is a wonderful beginner
group for
string players to try their hand
at ensemble playing. Our Jazz Department offers weekly Jazz Ensemble Coachings for all instruments and levels. And our classical faculty offer Chamber Ensembles for all instruments and levels.
Introductory Workshops are offered throughout the year in an array of musical topics and instruments.
Click here or call (617) 492-8105 about our 1-2 hour workshops, conveniently scheduled on weekends or evenings.
For vocalists, the following specialty topics will be offered during the 2007-2008 school year:
Acting for Singing, African-American Spirituals, Alexander Technique, Balkan & Bulgarian Singing, How to Use a Microphone, Jazz Scat Singing, Song Interpretation ("Bringing Songs to Life"), and Songwriting Clinics.
For instrumentalists, we will offer hands-on introductions to these instruments at least once during 2007-2008:
Bluegrass Banjo, Harp (classical), Australian Aboriginal Didgeridoo, Middle Eastern Oud, North Indian Tabla, and North Indian Sitar. (No experience necessary. Instruments provided, but students are welcome to bring their own.)

successful choruses throughout the country, and she has had
extraordinary success training amateur singers who come to her with no
