Students
will learn how to sing traditional Balkan music styles: the basics of
vocal
technique, breath control and singing support, pitch support, irregular
rhythms, range, dissonance in Balkan music.
Create ornaments you’ve never experienced!
Work on the differences
between traditional and classical (bel canto) styles. Learn simple
songs and
dances in different rhythms, using simple harmonies and unison voices.
Sing both
in groups and as individuals. Oral memorizing and ear training will be
emphasized. Individual lessons will also be available. No
prior foreign
language or formal singing experience is required. The first day of class is a free introductory
class/workshop (RSVP
required). Students
interested in enrolling later in the year are also invited to attend a
first
rehearsal for free, at any time during the school year (RSVP required).

choir, or for the free intro workshop, please call (617)
