Laurelle
Mathison,
Voice
A
native of the Caribbean islands, Trinidad and Tobago, Laurelle
completed her MM at Boston University, where
she performed Zita in Gianni Shicchi with the
University’s Opera Theatre Program, and in the scenes program, including Carmen in Carmen,
Ursule in Beatrice et Benedict, and 3rd
Lady in The Magic
Flute.
Laurelle’s most recent performance was the title role of Dido
and Aeneas with the Intermezzo Opera, Young Artist Summer
Program. There she
had the full pleasure of working
and coaching under Conductor, J. David Jackson with the Metropolitan
Opera, and
renowned dramatic mezzo, Jane Bunnell.
Other roles to her credit are Milkmaid from Brundibar,
Irina
from Lost in the Stars, Dinah in Trouble
in Tahiti, Ms. Angel in The
Impresario and Sally in A Hand of Bridge.
Concert engagements have included
Mozart’s Requiem with
Masterworks Chorale, the Boston University’s Soloist
Competition Winners
Concert, where she appeared as a guest soloist featuring new works, and
also with the Stockton Chorale in Mozart’s Vesperae
Solennes and
Claussen’s A New Creation.
Although
Laurelle’s foremost pursuit is opera, her
musical and performance interests span a wide range including song
repertoire,
new works, concert and oratorio. She also crosses over to musical
theatre, where
she has performed the roles of Miss Sherman in Fame,
Amelia in She
Loves Me, Cinderella’s Mother in Into the
Woods, and Geneva in 1940s
Radio Hour.
