Donating to the New School of Music
The New School of Music is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization. Please
consider a donation this year. All donations are tax-deductible.
How we use your donations to bring music to the community:

At the core of NSM's community-service mission is a long-standing initiative known as MusicReach,
a program with two equally important branches - awarding need-based
scholarship assistance to low-income children and adults, and making it possible for our outstanding
faculty and students to perform and offer free classes in schools and
libraries as well as nursing homes and senior centers. Our school currently
has over one dozen
- Write a check made out to "New School of Music" and send it to 25 Lowell St., Cambridge, MA 02138. You will then receive a form for tax purposes.
- Make a donation by credit card over the phone by calling our office at 617-492-8105 or email us.
- Donate when you register - there is room on our registration forms for a donation. No matter how little you give, this money is appreciated and greatly needed.
- Donate to NSM online! Click on the icon below and you can donate as little as $5 to NSM online.

Through the generous support of donors like you, MusicReach touches hundreds of people in the community every year, and gives substantial financial aid to those who would otherwsie be unable to study music.
Since 1976, the mission of the New School of Music has remained constant: To provide high-quality, affordable musical instruction to all who seek it, and to share the musicianship of its faculty and visiting artists with the community. Today, NSM has an extensive roster of activities. In addition to a broad range of catalog offerings (vocal, instrumental, theatrical, movement based, and individual and group lessons), the school presents free concerts and events throughout the year for everyone to enjoy. NSM has kept its costs low, and continues to offer scholarship money to students in need.

What Funds Can I Donate to?
Annual Fund
This is NSM's general fund. Money donated to this fund is used in the area of greatest need, mostly related to the general expenses of the school.
Scholarship Fund
The Scholarship Fund helps students who couldn't afford lessons or classes without financial assistance. NSM is proud of their ability to help students bring music into their lives.
Piano Fund
The New School of Music's pianos are in constant need of repair, restoration, and replacement. If you would like to donate money specifically to the Piano Fund, this money will be used to better our pianos. Pianos are used by students in lessons as well as faculty for concerts. It is essential that our pianos have constant upkeep and repair, and this is expensive. Donate to the Piano Fund and help make our pianos as good as our performers!
MusicReach Fund
This fund helps send NSM faculty into public schools and libraries, nursing homes and senior centers. Please read the description at the top of this page for more info on our MusicReach Program.
In the memo of your check, write the name of the fund you are donating to or mention this if you donate over the phone with your credit card.
What Other Ways Can Donate?
Donate your time by volunteering.
Call our office at 617-492-8105 if you're interested in volunteer opportunities. Skills might include: answering phones, stuffing envelopes, assisting with events & concerts, helping with computer maintenance, light handywork, etc. If you think you might have a skill we could use, call us! We are also looking for Concert Helpers, to help with our free concerts.
Donate needed items.
This might include: office supplies, furniture, shelving units, software, etc. Call our office at 617-492-8105 or email us. Items must be in good shape.
Donate your skills.
By skills, we mean skills in : marketing, fundraising, graphic designing, decorating, organizing, web designing, painting, etc. Lend us the skills you use for your career or rediscover old skills through helping our school!

NSM'S ANNUAL FUND
Due in large part to the support of our generous donors, NSM has kept our prices the lowest in the area, while providing music lessons and concerts from among the finest musicians in the region. Despite the soaring costs of heat and electricity, rent, and employee healthcare coverage, we remain firmly commited to remaining affordable and accessible to all, and rely on Annual Fund giving to help us support this community-based mission.
Diverse offerings, financial accessibility, free concerts, and a unique, non-competitive atmosphere make the New School of Music a community school, and an important part of the cultural life of its students and the Cambridge area. We are asking our most loyal supporters to help us stay true to our mission, while maintaining a fiscally sound institution that can weather the challenges of an economy in which the arts are always at risk.
